Lunar New Year Art – The monthly New Year’s lessons for art are an excellent way to celebrate the Chinese New Year’s emotion. Here are some of my favorites. They also include three versions of Dragon Eyes lessons, because dragons are considered great symbols of happiness, power and prosperity in Chinese culture, and Dragon dancers are often an important part of the Lunar New Year holidays.

This is a great lesson to learn symmetry. Students use a pastel or chalk transfer method to draw half a dragon and transfer it to the other side of the paper. Students use different forms to create eyes, mouth, nose, scales and hair. After I added thick black lines, my students fill the spaces with bright temperatures and create a symmetrical dragon mask. It also creates an overlap in the center of the mask, allowing the mask to look 3D. The results are bold and beautiful.

The flashlight festival is part of the monthly New Year’s holiday. It started more than 2000 years ago. Lanters (天灯 / tiān dēng) sound similar to (添丁 / tiān dīng) or “add children”. Many will burn lanterns in the hope of adding children to the family. Lotus is a pure lighting. In this lesson, students combine the lotus flower and floating lanterns. My students use black watercolors or black acrylic paint and watercolor brush to practice calligraphy art, paying attention to brushes and directions. We see the masters of Chinese calligraphy and try to create the Chinese character. Students use a step -by -step manual and watch a video demonstration to learn the technique. The final calligraphy is done on a square piece of red paper. The Chinese character Fu (福) means happiness, blessing and happiness. China people believe that this will bring good luck.

Holding the theme of the feneling festival. Students use paper towels or toilet paper pipes to create a paper lantern. Students assemble and cut paper and cover the pipe to create a 3D art work. The construction paper can be used or the shaped origami paper can be used to add a higher visual interest. These miniature lanterns are an excellent art project for the Lunar New Year.

The four lessons above are included in my Lunar New Year’s Lesson lesson, with five art lessons and art activities. They make a wonderful display of the Lunar New Year or at any time of the year.

This oil art lesson was hit by my high school art students every time I teach the lesson. This is definitely a student’s favorite! Students use oil pastels to attract a real eye with default textures and value changes while using shades and color shades to create shadows and accent.

My students use real references to the eyes of the animals and the step -by -step drawing manual to create a unique and one of a kind of dragon eye. In addition, I show my students on YouTube to prove how to mix the oil pastels together to create a 3D look. The results are creative, and my students really enjoy using oil pastels. See my art lesson in The Eye Dragon: The student’s favorite blog for a more detailed description of this lesson.

This lesson is a perfect lesson of real or tactile texture for your elementary and high school students. In this relief lesson for sculpture clay art, students create a dragon eye for clay procedures and apply clay techniques to create texture. Students mix clay, create a clay base and add a glass cabo to the eyes and cover it with polymer clay. My students use the creative solving of problems while applying crafts to complete their sculpture. See how to make a Dragon Polymer Clay blog for more information on how to find out.

My students prayed for a lesson for digital art and I know they enjoy the theme of the dragons. The final result is another of the favorite art lessons of my students! It is a perfect lesson for digital art for beginners to be used without buying computer software. My students create a computer -generated dragon eye using Google Drawings (FREE Gmail account). Students begin to create Iris with a gradient tool and understand how to use layers while adding the student and highlighting. Next, students use the Polylin and Shape instrument to create a texture and a model on the scale around the eye. Students learn how to work smarter and not harder using copying and accession. Students use model, repetition, gradients and emphasis to create the illusion of a 3D dragon eye.
